An indhoni, a decorated ring used by women of the Banjara tribe to carry burdens on their heads. The Banjara are a seminomadic people living in Rajasthan (and elsewhere in India). Their economy has traditionally centered on the trade and transport of goods, and the raising of beasts of burden. They share some similarities with the Romani people of Europe. One such is a fondness for maximum bling, of which the indhoni is a good example. This one consists of a network of twined cotton and colorful tufts, to which dozens of cowrie shells are attached.
