Sticky Rice Basket

$25.00

Thai or Lao sticky rice basket, commonly known as a kratip or kratib (thip khao in Lao). This style of a basket is typical of the Isan culture of Northeastern Thailand and adjacent Laos, where sticky rice (khao niao) is a daily staple. The kratip is used to store and serve freshly-steamed sticky rice, keeping it soft and moist (as opposed to the sad lump that you sometimes get with your Thai takeout). We usually see much smaller kratip; this one is the large, family-size version.
