Kyō-yaki Teapot

$35.00

A little teapot (about 5" tall), in the Kyoto style (Kyō-yaki, 京焼). Has a handle made of twisted copper wire, which we have left on because it's charming; a new cane handle is included if desired. Found with a typewritten label attached saying simply, "Milton, Oregon 1943" (Milton was a rural town in eastern Oregon, which became Milton-Freewater in 1951). Interesting only because most of the Japanese items we see in the trade arrived during the post-WWII period.
