Late 19th century (Qing Dynasty). Chinese Shiwan ware (石灣窯) Huangjiu decanter. This type of pottery has been produced for centuries at kilns in the Shiwanzhen district, near Guangzhou, Guangdong.

Huangjiu (Chinese: 黃酒, "yellow wine") is an amber-colored fortified wine brewed from a mixture of grains, such as rice, millet, or wheat. Huangjiu is especially popular in eastern China, where has been used for cooking and drinking for over 5,000 years. This type of bottle was used both for shipping, and for warming the beverage before serving.

This piece still has its Jian Ding Export Approval Seal, which can be easily removed if desired. Objects made before 1949 are considered "cultural relics" and cannot be taken out of China without an official stamped receipt and/or a government seal such as this.
