Redwood Burl Vessel
Small vessel made of redwood burl. In the rivers of Northern California, redwood logs are often buried in river bar sediments, or back-beach lagoons, for many decades. The wood, already ancient, ages to a state near petrifaction. This piece found its way out into the ocean at some point, as evidenced by some shipworm borings. We have hollowed it out and sealed it up. Now it is ready to keep you company on your nightstand, where it might hold rings, coins, magical charms, or even better— nothing.
