Shannah Bupp Portrait

$850.00

Untitled portrait by Shannah Bupp (b. 1985). Though contemporary, Bupp's work reflects the spirit of les Fauves ("the wild beasts"), an artistic movement that emerged in Europe around 1905. Fauvism favored the unexpected use of strong color, and slightly abstracted forms, building on the Post-Impressionist ideas of Van Gogh, Cézanne, and Gauguin. André Derain and Henri Matisse were the prime movers, joined by Georges Braque, Émilie Charmy, Raoul Dufy, Jean Puy, and Georges Rouault, among others.

Oil on panel, c. 2010. 16 x 20"
