Here's something that you don't see every day! This thick piece of rope is constructed from at least three separate ropes, braided and wrapped together. We believe that this is a vernacular object, made for some special use (rather than an intentional piece of art). It was quite dirty when we found it, and it still has some rust stains, as if it had lain in the bottom of a boat for some time. It has the slightly outsider-y, devil-may-care feel of a sculpture by Eva Hesse, and it looks absolutely stunning draped over a railing or a piece of furniture. 12 feet long by 2 inches wide.
